Alteration Center Policy
Any order over $100 is subject to a deposit of half down at first fitting.
Work Sewn is Guarenteed for 90 days only. After that it is subject to new charges if work needs to be done again.
The Alteration Center will hold unpaid orders for up to 90 days. After that unpicked up work will be donated.
Please have your alteration ticket when calling or coming in to pick up so we have all the information needed to help you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to make an appointment before we come in?
A: Currently only Wedding dresses and Quinceañera dresses need appointments due to the nature of the event and the time needed to work on the garment. All other types of alterations can be walk-in. first come first served.
Q: What is your current turn-around time for Alterations?
A: 7 to 10 days for most projects, 4 to 8 weeks for Wedding Dresses and Quinceanera ( part of why you need an appointment)
Q: Can I come by and get my measurements taken without having to have anything sewn?
A: Absolutely! We are happy to give complimentary measurements. many times when renting a tux or suit for a wedding or prom they will ask you for your measurements. we do measurements for men, women, and children at no charge.
Q: Do you do custom, or commisioned made to order projects ?
A: We do have time for special projects more in the late fall/ winter months ( November to Feburary) when we are out of the biggest part of the Wedding and Formalwear season. Special projects take a month or two and are priced per project. We do not do couture bridal any time of year currently. We do not dye any garments.
Q: Do you offer Workshops and Classes?
A: We are in the process of setting up classes and workshops for the Fall and Winter months. check out our classes and workshops on facebook events and on our website to see what is being offered each season.
Q: Who does the sewing work?
A: unlike a lot of places, we do not have employees and managers. we are all independent contractors and small business owners renting a station like a hair salon but for sewing. we have 2 co-owners of the Alteration Center and 6 additional station holders for a total of 8 skilled sewists/alteration specialists/tailors/bridal specialists on site to handle the mulitple sewing needs of our clients.
Q: Where does the sewing take place, is my garment shipped out or leave the shop to be sewn somewhere else?
A: All sewing is done on-site at Alteration Center. we have all the necessary equipment and tools on site to do all our sewing on site in our store. nothing is shipped elsewhere for sewing work. All work is done within a reasonable turnaround time depending on the project and client agreement, sewing work is insured through the individual business owners inside the Alteration Center, and quality assurance is guaranteed for each project.
Q: Do you offer bulk prices or discounts?
A: We do not offer any type of special pricing or discounts at this time. “Bulk” price commonly applies only to manufacturing/distribution industries which we are not. We are a small business of skilled tradespeople that specialize in the craftsmanship of each garment's need and construction. while we will do special projects on occasion. we are not a manufacturing plant.
